Removing Concrete Floor Anchors

If needed a hammer can be used to knock the anchoring tube below the floor and in some cases these tubes can simply be pulled out of the hole entirely.

Some concrete anchors such as the tapcon concrete screws can be removed easily by turning them counterclockwise. Tapcons are removable because they are threaded screws that tap threads into the concrete brick or block. A steel anchor is stubborn and its removal will usually cause damage to the concrete floor. Make sure it s tight and flush with the bolt s upper side. Protruding anchors may be removed using and angle grinder of a boltbreaker. Place the threaded nut onto the concrete anchor bolt.

Using a cutoff saw or grinding wheel cut the wedge anchor off at the surface of the concrete. If the anchors are of the screw in type place a screwdriver bit into the drill position the bit into the head of the anchor and turn the fastener loose in a counterclockwise direction. The more thorough the installation job the harder it will be to dislodge the anchor bolt from its position. Step 2 grip with pliers then grip the nut with pliers and pull upward.

Female concrete anchors are generally simpler to remove. Often a bolt can be removed simply by unscrewing it.
